About Us

Come and relax in our comfortable and homely café.  We serve delicious homemade food and great coffee using local produce wherever possible.  We change our menu regularly depending on what is inspiring us and what is in season.

We are easily accessible by car, bike or on foot, with many walking routes starting or finishing on the farm making us the perfect stop for a coffee, cake or lunch.

The café is set in the grounds of Early 17th Century Manor Farm, with the café garden overlooking St John’s Church. The working beef farm has been in the family for over 100 years and is currently run by father and son team, Paul and Jacob Mattick.

Meet the Team

  • Karen is the founder of the business which began in 2015. She has a huge passion for cooking, with an array of recipe information up her sleeve, a love of flavours from all corners of the globe and someone who gains great pleasure from seeing people enjoy good food. Karen creates our ever-changing salads and specials menus and spends lots of time and energy making sure our regular menu is the best it can be with top quality ingredients and staff training to make sure everything is served just as she’d like it.

  • Oversees the operation

Working as a general waitress in the café was Alice’ first Saturday job and she went on to learn all aspects of the business from cooking, to making coffee, to overseeing shifts. Alice is now our full time Manager.

  • Our behind the scenes creators

Our culinary experts, working in a separate kitchen making the fresh salads and dishes from our specials menu as well as our staple menu items. Homemade soups, breads, hash browns and pancakes are also lovingly prepared by these hardworking and knowledgeable ladies.

  • Our brilliant Barista

Joining the team in 2021, with little barista experience, Ethan is our beverage manager. Day after day he produces our high-quality coffees, using beautiful Easy Jose coffee beans, along with the many other drink options we have available.

  • Our marvellous multi-tasker

Kate has worked in all areas of the cafe from the very early days making her one of our most diverse members of the team. She loves cake (eating it!) and her favourite is the Carrot, Ginger and Walnut.
